10 of the Best Coffee Shops to Visit in NYC

If you know me, you know that I have a slight obsession with NYC. Better yet, their coffee shop/coffee culture. I’ve been to a lot of places in my life and I think that they have some of the best coffee shops in the world. Every time I go, I make it a point to stop at as many as I can because it’s something I enjoy doing. Plus, I could drink coffee for every meal…

If you’re planning to visit NYC and you’re a coffee connoisseur like me, you’ll want to add some of these coffee shops of NYC to your list, trust me. If you’re also looking to visit NYC like more of a local, you might want to check out this post.

Finally, if you have any favorites, please let me know! I am always adding to my list and would love to check out more on my next visit.

Without further ado…here are my:

10 best coffee shops in NYC

1. Woops!

If you like macaroons, Woops! is the place for you. It is French-inspired and I believe macaroons are their biggest seller. I went to the one over in Williamsburg and it was the cutest spot and I did get a few macaroons, but I also had breakfast there, which you can see below. I recommend this one because of the ambiance that the store provides and their coffee was actually really good!

2. Intelligentsia

Intelligentsia has got the vibe going on, that’s for sure! I didn’t get a good photo of the inside, because there were tons of people, but it was one of my favorite coffees I’ve had in NYC.

It’s location also can’t be beat, as it’s right off the High Line, which I visit every time I go.

3. Cha Cha Matcha

Oh, Cha Cha Matcha…I love you so matcha! This is the cutest little place and the matcha is actually fantastic. So, I guess this isn’t technically coffee, but you can get coffee here so it counts! If you’re into the matcha phase that’s been going on, then you must visit this place!

4. Maman

Maman was one of the cutest locations I sought out… its interior has an oddly rustic/farm-house vibe but their coffee is amazing. I also got a chocolate croissant, because I couldn’t resist, and it was equally fantastic. It seemed to be nestled in a place that only locals would visit…which I loved even more…but maybe I’m wrong about that? Either way, you’re definitely going to want to add this one to your list!

Cost: $

Coffee: 9/10

Locations: NOMAD, SOHO, Tribeca, & more.

5. Sarabeth’s

You guys…..I absolutely adore Sarabeth’s. It’s located inside Chelsea Market, which I also love. I normally go to NYC in the wintertime and this hot chocolate was a game-changer. Absolutely one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had. They also have a bakery and small lunch plates, etc. but I normally just pop in for either a tea or coffee (or in this case, hot chocolate). If you’re in Chelsea Market or that area in general, I definitely recommend making room for Sarabeth’s!

6. Seven Grams

I’ll admit…I got my first oat milk latte at Seven Grams, thanks to the cashier for recommending it, and it was fantastic. I’m also a sucker for cute coffee cups if I’m dining in, and this beer can style cups get me every time…it was a chill vibe inside and the coffee was even better.

7. Citizens of Chelsea

Okay, so, Citizens of Chelsea isn’t technically a coffee shop but I absolutely loved their coffee. Also, who doesn’t love plants hanging from the ceiling? There are a few locations for this place, but the one pictured is in Chelsea.

We also got breakfast here and it was great, they have a wide variety of things to choose from, so you’ll be able to pick from whatever you’re feeling at the time.

8. The Butcher’s Daughter

When I say I visit The Butcher’s Daughter every time I go to NYC, I mean it. The first time I went I just got coffee, but these last two go arounds I tried their food and it’s just as amazing. At first, I thought it was just going to be a cute IG photo and not really have quality food/coffee, but I was oh so wrong. The latte was amazing & the avocado toast, mmm, I can’t recommend it enough!

Okay, okay, okay…I saved one of my favorite coffee shops in NYC for last, Urban Backyard, so I hope you made it all the way to the bottom to see it…I spent over an hour in this cute little coffee shop and I can’t get enough. The vibe, aesthetic, food, coffee, tea, etc. It’s so good.

Last time I was there, I got an Earl Grey tea and succulent cupcakes – so. good. I just love it here. Can’t recommend it enough. If you go, let me know!
